o christmas tree

i'm (sorta) back. this week, there will be a lot of family-oriented posts & letting you guys know what i've been up to during the holiday. but first, a tribute post...

this is (was) my dog, duke. my dad literally took this picture this morning, christmas day.

doesn't he still look like a little puppy dog? from the picture, you can tell what a sweetie he was.

he was 12 years old. his sister, who he'd spent his whole life with, was recently put down. since then, he had a hard time dealing with that. he howled every night. and one of my parents always had to come downstairs and sleep with him so he wouldn't be lonely.

tonight, he was pacing around- disoriented, stomach bloated, foaming at the mouth. they rushed out to the vet. and sadly, they decided to put him down. it was really just his time.

it's weird... i keep expecting him to come around the corner, or see him lying down in the chair. my family has no dogs now. it'll take some time to get used to this, even though i don't live with my parents anymore.

my parents decorated this little tree out in the yard. specifically for me :)

they know how much i like christmas-y stuff, even though they're not that into it.

besides duke being put down, i've been having a really great christmas with my family. i can't wait to tell you what i've been up to with them this week (even if it does mean gaining like 10 lbs from so much FOOD!! :)

i hope your holiday this year has felt just as special.

  1. Your doggy was put down today? On Christmas, boy that is hard. I am sorry for your loss and wish your family(and you) a very Merry Christmas, or whats left of it. I hope you guys are doing well, and don't worry. He is in a great place now with his sister.

    Xoxo, Mary from ♥ ♥

  2. Very sorry to hear about your dog! Hope you had a nice Christmas anyway <3

  3. I'm so sorry about Duke :(. It's a very sad feeling to have to put them to sleep, but at the same time, it's a relief to know you've done everything you could've possibly do for them. He's no suffering anymore, so try not to get too sad.

I love the tree your parents decorated for you! ;) And the last pic is great!

Merry Christmas, Chantilly! Can't wait to see more photos!

  4. mary, rebecca, and miki- thank you for the kind words... i'm just glad mr. duke isn't in pain anymore.

christmas was otherwise great. i've loved seeing my family :)

  5. Hello Chantilly. I'm so sorry to hear about Duke. ;( Anyway, I hope you had a great time this Christmas! ♥

  6. So sorry about your guy Duke. But also glad to know you had an otherwise happy holiday. Merry Christmas!

  7. I'm so sorry. I've not lost a pet yet (not counting my goldfish when I was four) but dogs I have loved as if they were mine have been put down - all five of them, actually. I cried every time, so I sort of know how you feel. :(

thank you for taking the time to leave a comment :) i appreciate your thoughts.
