the other day, i had a total kumbaya moment when my friend ben led a "songs of protest" workshop and i helped out! we gathered down by an old fire pit with a few campers and played and sang tons of pete seeger and bob dylan songs. everyone played them, then we all analyzed the meaning of the lyrics together.
ben's the hottie with the guitar and alex (the bass instructor) is the hottie with the upright.
i don't know what i was expecting, but a lot of the kids here are VERY talented. more so than i thought. a lot of them play multiple instruments, and can pick up songs seamlessly with tons of expression. some of them are better than the adult musicians i know.
more and more every day, i'm seeing (and feeling) what a special place this is. i'm so happy and lucky to be here :)
