Pumpkin Pie Face Mask

Pumpkin Pie Face Mask

It's been a long time since I've attempted a beauty DIY.  In the past, I was quite keen on pampering myself with fun concoctions.  But In the last year or so, I've been refining my skincare routine and have found some products that have stuck with me.  Still, it's fun to experiment and be creative!  I mean, who doesn't love a night filled with girlfriends, Netflix, and slathering your face with stuff you found in your fridge?

ABOUT THE INDREDIENTS

Pumpkin is supposedly high in enzymes which help brighten and smooth skin, but reports are conflicting.  For me, it more served as a way to introduce the real heavies here- rice flour and argan oil.

Rice flour is a great choice for a gentle facial exfoliant.  Many exfoliants like sugar or salt are total no-no's for the face, because they are too rough and can cause micro tears. Rice flour is A-ok though.  Bonus- it also has a brightening effect, which evens out your skintone over time!

Argan oil is also recent fave of mine.  I've been using a couple drops on my skin morning and night to finish my routine.  It makes my skin so soft!

THE RECIPE

+ 2 Tbs. pureed pumpkin
+ 2 Tbs. rice flour
+ 1 tbs. Argan oil
+ 2 Tbs. honey

+ To apply, gently massage into the skin for 2-3 minutes, to get that nice exfoliation from the rice flour.  Then leave on as a mask for 15-20 minutes to let the argan oil do its work.  Rinse off!

I kept the leftovers in a jar, and made a cute label for it with a font I found online and printed out in a Word document.

It will keep up to one week in the fridge.  😃

  1. That's a neat idea! I've never heard of pumpkin in face masks before. Although it looks quite delicious too, part of me just wants to spread it on toast;)
