July 4th ++ Maine

July 4th ++ Maine

Heyyo!

Back again for a second... how have you been?

I had posts galore lined up, and I totally got sidetracked by some wonderful summer activities.  We've been out of town almost every weekend, and I tried to get in as much Hipcamp road tripping as possible.  Being a Field Scout has been insane!  To a scatterbrain like me, planning trips' every last detail can be exhausting, and you're constantly fretting about getting good shots... especially when you go solo a lot like I do.  It's definitely a JOB, albiet a fun one!

But it's been so amazing to discover these little microcosms that exist in my own backyard.  I love talking to new people every day, seeing how they live, and experiencing the scenery and mini-cultures that surround them.

Well, anyway!  More about that later, I've got TONS of pictures on the back burner (as usual.)

Here are a few photos I meant to share a few months ago, all the way back in July.  We've started a new tradition for the 4th... fireworks at my brother's place in Maine.  It's Matt's favorite holiday (yup, even more favorite than Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Halloween), so he's always willing to go big on the fireworks.

My brother also had friends over almost every day leading up to the occasion.  We played lots of board games, drank whiskey, ate food grilled on the fire, had splendid conversation, and even did a jam session in Jesse's basement music studio.  Matt and I went for a hike on the second day, and we felt like running around singing "The Sound of Music."  It was SO beautiful!

Hope your summer has gone well too!  I'm not totally ready to let it go, but on the other hand... cozy socks, PSL's, and beautiful foliage await :)
