Cartier in NYC
Heyyyyyy! Happy holidays everyone!
Just dropping in for a minute to say hi and share these bomb photos I took the other day with Vicki in front of Cartier. A few things-
Nomo Soho
Hi!! How's everything going lately? Just wanted to drop in for a hot minute and share this shoot that I did a couple months ago. I know, I know... I really need to get more timely with my content. Haha. But... better late than never?
Moments from the County Fair
Do you remember your first time going to a carnival?
For me, I remember the glitter of the neon and lights as we pulled into the parking lot at night. We found our way into a dimly-lit tent where a kind lady painted my face in green glitter. With a few strokes, I was instantly transformed into a celestial princess. I was so sad that I had to wash it off when I got home, wishing I could keep it on forever so that I'd always remember that special night. (I think my Mom even let me sleep without washing it off!)
I'll never forget those feelings or experiences. That's why I love the fair, and that's what keeps people coming back year after year. You never have to go very far to have the time of your life screaming your head off on a rollercoaster, then pounding down a corndog and Coke afterward. All you have to do is wait for the right time of year!
So here's a list of seven magical things about going to the fair, to get you pumped for your next trip, whenever that may be.
Eating that one special food that you've waited all year for
You know the one I'm talking about. Your favorite food is probably not the same as mine, but it's still undoubtedly the best (right?!). My husband's is sausage and peppers. I personally love freshly fried dough with powdered sugar. (NOT funnel cakes. It's gotta be doughy.) When I see it and smell it, it takes me back to that first night with the green glitter face painting, and just makes me feel fuzzy inside.
Forgo your diet this time and get some of those good memories back.
What's your favorite?

Carnival smells
There's nothing quite like the nostalgic smell of the fairgrounds. Cotton candy, corn dogs, caramel apples... give me all of it, please. Smell is so powerful, and it's one of the things that makes it such a great experience, evokes nostalgia, and keeps us coming back for more!!

Okay, so I admit it. I'm a little bit of a ride wimp.Sure, when I was a kid I was fearless. I went on all the rides, and I mean ALL OF THEM. I never backed down from a challenge. But what can I say? Age has mellowed me, so now I stick to the kiddie coasters and the Ferris wheel.
But that doesn't mean YOU shouldn't enjoy them! The daredevil rides are popular for a reason, and they're (mostly!) safe. If that shot of adrenaline you get from the Freefall makes you feel ALIVE, then who's to stop you? Go get in line and have the time of your life.
Going in the 'spooky' haunted house
These cheap scare tactics never fail to disappoint. Either in novelty or if they're genuinely scary to you... just another way to get your adrenaline fix! By the time I made it into the haunted houses, I was a teenager so I basically just had a good laugh with my friends. Either way, it's always a good time.Seeing cutie farm animals up close
I always love taking a stroll through the livestock exhibits and seeing the pigs, cows, chickens, and horses. I don't know what it is, but I find farm animals to be so cute! They're animals that most of us don't normally get to see every day, and it's nice to be reminded that these are beings deserving of respect and honor.Let's be real... most of us use animal products daily but are pretty removed from the um... processes that get them onto our tables. So go make friends with a pig and get some perspective 🐷
Winning a prize from a game
Okay, I must confess... I've never actually won the prize 😭 (Cue the world's tiniest violin, etc...) I know, I know... we all understand that the games are rigged. But that won't stop me from having the best time while trying to shoot the duck and win the stuffed stoned penguin (you know the one...)The carnival lights as it gets dark
This is actually my favorite part of going to the fair. As I said before, my first time was at nighttime when I was little. The excitement and mystery that was in the air was absolutely thrilling! It still is. I still get that look of bright-eyed wonder whenever I see those neon lights. Do you?So was there anything I missed? What's your favorite part of going to the fair??

7 Reasons Why You Must Visit a Farm Stand This Fall
Fall is definitely in the air!
Hello doves! Have you been enjoying fall so far? I'm not sure what it is, but I am like... borderline obsessed with fall this year. I've been collecting pumpkins like a mad woman and hoarding spice-scented candles from TJ Maxx.... I'm ready!! 🎃🍎🍂
Guide to Cape May and Wildwood, New Jersey: 10 Fantastic Things to Do
NYC is absolutely opulent in the spring and fall... but unfortunately, the summertime here can be quite a drag. Schepping on hot subways and sweating through your favorite shirts is just not most people's idea of a good time. It's no wonder they flock by the multitudes to the Hamptons, the Jersey Shore, and other exclusive beach locales. I've always wanted to take a summer jaunt to one of these places, but somehow it just wasn't in the cards.
Instagram Secrets + 101 Hashtags for Travel Bloggers
There are three things that have become a bigger part of my life in the past year: traveling, taking photos, and Instagram.
Copenhagen Denmark Guide- the Lazy Girl's Edition
During our epic Europe trip last spring, Copenhagen was our very last stop. By that time, we had already seen two other countries and felt worn down from all the planes, trains, and travel itineraries. By the time we got to Denmark, we were SUPER ready to take it easy.
Luckily, the vibe in Copenhagen seemed to be in line with our desire to kick things down a couple notches. And surprisingly, it turned out to be one of my favorite places!

What's Making You Happy This Week?
Happy Friday everyone! Again I've been meaning to update for a few weeks, but time has been slipping away from me. How have you been?
Best Hot Chocolate in Bruges, Belgium
How much do you love hot chocolate?
I'm not usually crazy about it, myself. When I think of it, I usually picture packets of powder with stale marshmallows swirled into some hot water... unappetizing to say the least.
However, I recently came across a place while traveling that was a whole other experience. I'm talking about The Old Chocolate House in Bruges, Belgium! It's a must if you're planning on passing through this quaint little town. So much so that I had to make sure it had its own blog post!

What's in My Suitcase- Travel Must-Haves!
Travel is a pretty much universally loved activity. Seriously, have you ever heard someone say they don't like to travel? It's like saying you don't like pizza or birthday cake. The feeling of hitting that road or stepping onto that plane to a destination unknown feels like freedom. Once you've been bitten by the travel bug, it's kind of hard to get un-bit 😊
The only thing is, traveling seems to involve more and more prep work the older you get. In college, for example, I used to literally haul my entire life around in a minivan- which consisted of about nine boxes of stuff. If I was going on a weekend trip, I'd just throw a couple clothes in a backpack and skedaddle!
Now things are a bit more... complicated. There are skincare routines to consider. My hair impossibly frizzy if I don't at least run a flat-iron through it. I NEED my eyeliner or there will be hell to pay. Etc.
What's been helping me in the past few years is having specific routines and an already typed-out list to follow, as well as keeping a separate cache of "travel stuff" all in one place. I'd like to share with you some of the things that have helped me feel less overwhelmed when packing!
+ Packing cubes
I finally tried out some packing cubes this year, and they're a game changer. See, I'm the kind of woman whose suitcase looks like a hurricane swirled through town the second I open it. And seriously, what do you do with all that dirty underwear anyway? In case you're wondering, I found the answer. They're called laundry pouches and they're wonderful.
Besides keeping your dirty laundry separate, packing cubes also keep all your other clothes separate, manageable, and easy to find. Blessed be!
Channie on the Block
Okay, folks so here it is.
My first style post in over three years.
And how do I feel about that... cool, I guess?
Actually, I do have a few thoughts on the matter that I'd like to share...
Life Moments ++
Omg, is there anything better than room service??
Hiiiii!
What up, beauties? Life has sure been an adventure recently, and I just wanted to share a few snaps. I've been going through some of my old posts... I miss blogging so much!
But sometimes I feel like so many things are happening all the time. By the time you are done processing those things, you're onto something else and all the rest is forgotten. No time to document or share. Not to mention doing all those things in between work and home life.
Sometimes I wonder... how did I do it all before? I used to plan and post at least 3x per week in between teaching students, playing shows, and making records. Did I just have more time? More organizational skillz? More motivation?
Anyway... just wanted to share a moment of honesty 😊 Hope all is well with you... click through to see some of my photos from the past couple of weeks!
Quick Guide to Bruges, Belgium
Ever heard of a little place called Bruges, Belgium? Simply put, it's a town that is like a medieval fairy tale come to life. There are SO many delicious foods and beautiful places all crammed into this little magical town.
My husband and I decided to add Belgium as one of our destinations for our recent vacation to Europe and I've been spamming Instagram with my pics ever since! Bruges was one of the stops on our little Euro-tour, and I was absolutely charmed.

Essential Beach Checklist
Aaah, the smell of suntan lotion and sea spray. It's official... Beach season has arrived! In fact, going to the beach has always been one of my very favorite activities. To me, it's the most peaceful thing in the world to lay back on that blanket and listen to the waves crash and the seagulls fly by.
Rhode Island Beach Day 2018
Wait a minute, could this be what I think it is? Could this be a... regular blog update?? Golly gee, I never would've guessed! 😉Anyway, I went to visit my family last week for the 4th of July, and we ended up going to the beach 🌊
Trip of a Lifetime | Your Easy Paris Travel Guide
I had such a great time writing this guide to travel in Paris. Mainly because I had a such wonderful time in Paris- and who wouldn't! There are countless amazing things to do.
For me, going to Paris was the trip of a lifetime. It was the first leg of our epic trip to Europe, with stops including Bruges and Copenhagen. I've spent countless hours dreaming about the cafes I would visit, the pastries I would eat, and the days I would spend aimlessly walking around those beautiful streets. Not to mention visiting cool monuments and dozens of museums that you could spend a literal lifetime exploring.
This city has got it all, and I feel so lucky that I got to visit this past spring!
However, Paris can be a little overwhelming to navigate for the first time. I wanted to put together a super basic guide for anyone looking to take a trip here and is not sure where to start.
