Waffle House

I mentioned that on our road trip up to our cabin this past Memorial Day Weekend, we made a special stop to indulge in some yummy waffle goodness. Our friend Jeff insisted that it would be worth it if we drove an hour out of our way to Waffle House in Scranton, PA. It was a great decision. Not only did we get to visit Scranton (we all kept one eye out for Jim and Pam!), but the waffles were indeed drool-worthy.

Exhibit A: peanut butter and chocolate chip-

Waffle House

I was really in the mood for more standard fare... but waffles are obviously what this place is famous for, so I still wanted to try them out. I ended up sharing a pecan waffle with Julia... she decked her half out with the crazy toppings above!

Also- the prices were so cheap!!! I literally couldn't believe that my eggs/ bacon/ hashbrowns/ toast/ waffle combo was $6 and some change. I had to double check with the waitress a few times that I was reading the menu right, haha.

  2. My father was shocked when I told him I've never been to a waffle house, but then every road trip to the states (I'm Canadian) I've ever been on was with him, and he only ever really took us to Denny's (he has a gourmet palette) so I hold him accountable! I'm hoping to plan a road trip of my own rather soon, and a waffle house is totally getting stopped at somewhere along the way.

  6. Ahh Waffle House! We were road tripping a few years ago and popped into one in PA somewhere, we were so excited! Until, we walked into a wall of cigarette smoke and upon sitting noticed the whole table was a greasy mess. We've only heard good things, so we figure this was just a less than topnotch location. We also got the craziest stares, as if we interrupted a seance or something. So, we left and unfortunately our Waffle House opportunity slipped through our fingers. Haven't had the chance to revisit one since. Obviously your trip was the polar opposite! :)

  7. I went to a Waffle House for the first time two years ago and in North Carolina. We were looking for a place to eat, and ironically, the first place we came across to eat at was a Waffle House which was on my bucket list to visit. I think it made for an epic memory because we were in NC and it was totally unplanned. Because FL has plenty of waffle houses, but the only time I went and my first time, was in NC.

  11. Oh, you are killing me with your food pics. First you go camping and make s'mores. Now this! I don't know if I'm going to make it without raiding the pantry.

Still, it looks like you had a lot of fun going out. The Waffle House looks so cute!

  13. I'm glad you had such a good WH experience! When I was in high school, that was our hang out spot (I'm from a very small town, haha!) We went there on week nights to study and weekends to spike our coffee and clean tables for free toast. :)

  14. I love Waffle House! There are a ton around where I live. The hashbrowns are basically the best hashbrowns in the world. I can't make a trip there without getting them!
