Guilty Pleasures

Guilty Pleasures

Good afternoon!

So I was walking down the street, sipping my big 'ole Dunkin' Donuts coffee the other day, and it hit me... dang, I really do enjoy some pretty uncool things. It's a little hard to share this because admittedly, I've always wanted to be cool, but always seem to fall short of the mark. Well... I guess that's not true. I mean, (some) people think I'm cool... ...

Anyway- my first thought immediately after thinking about all the silly things I like, is that I should share this information on the internet. So, here goes nothing... a few of my recent favorite guilty pleasures for you to mock (and silently nod your head in agreement to)-

socks

These socks were totally $1.50. And those sunglasses in my last post were found on eBay. I'm an eBay queen. And I have to tell you, receiving a steady stream of trinkets in the mail that are $10 or less does wonders for the soul. I don't have to spend much money, yet get to savor the thrill of something new! Even if I don't end up loving what I bought, it's no big loss. It probably cost $3.

It doesn't have to be from eBay though. For instance, I just got two new pairs of socks from Sock Dreams (free shipping!) Can't wait till they arrive :)

Dunkin' donuts butter pecan coffee

I like the gourmet coffee shops just as much as anybody. But I decidedly don't like the 20-minute hike from my apartment to get to a decent place. Dunkin' Donuts is right across the street. I started getting into the habit of frequenting D&D more and more this winter, when I had really had it with schlepping a mile every day (literally) to get my coffee fix. (in the pouring rain! up five hills! etc., etc.)

I started paying more and more attention to their flavor menu, and most recently, I've been obsessed with the butter pecan. Sure, it's mostly corn syrup. But... well, actually, I really have no defense for that. Sorry. It sure is yummy though!

Despite my resistance to this "type" of magazine, I've found myself relishing reading Family Circle lately. My grandmother used to buy it all the time, and I think a part of me reminisces seeing it and reading it when I was little. Playing at what it would be like to be an older/ grown woman with a family. It might not be the super-coolest, but this magazine comforts me, and reminds me of a safe place.

Beverly Hills 90210 Brenda and Dylan

I've been into 90210 SO HARD lately. I have so many good memories of this show. Brenda will always be my favorite, even if she was dumped from the show for being a "bitch." Don't even get me started on that Dylan/ Kelly/ Brenda triangle. Whatever Bren, you were too good for him, anyway...

Basically... you will pry this DVD from my cold, dead hands.

Alright, now it's your turn to spill. What are some of your guilty pleasures lately?!

    1. aww, thanks! i watched the x-files sometimes, but it scared the hell out of me. i remember this one episode where there was this weird contortionist guy that slipped into people's houses and ate their livers. wtf. scarred for life.

    1. YES, YES, YES. i'm halfway through season three now, and that's where the buck stopped for me. i never cared about the college years. definitely couldn't stomach the soap-opera style they adapted to later on. i'm going to give season 4 a try though. why not.

  4. We all have random things that we love despite not being 'cool'. I'm pretty convinced that there is no such thing as it. Or if it is, it's only about confidence! You make those Family Circle magazines cool! :P

  8. To me, cheap thrills are what make my world go round! I continually go out of my way to get Lindt dark chocolate "a touch of sea salt" and chai lattes. And I also go crazy for socks. Weird. I'm stoked you shared the site with free shipping! I live in a town with only a Wal Mart, so online shopping means the world to me now!

  13. Oh, man - watching old episodes of 90210 is so great. I've been wanting to try that butter pecan coffee but was afraid it would be gross (their special flavors are so hit or miss) so thanks for the tip!

  15. I love me some DD too so no shame in that. As much as I don't care for a lot of reality TV shows, I admit I love Rachel Zoe, I can't explain, I even surprise with that one. We need cheap thrills in our lives, makes things more fun! :)

  18. What a fun post! I love ebay too- do you know what seller you got those socks from?? I love them! Probably my biggest guilty pleasure is tv related too, I never get to old for high school dramas- and 90210 kicked it off. Since Gossip Girl ended I am missing that from my life :)
