In another life, I went to bartending school. Yup, just another bit of useless trivia. During my brief stint as a would-be bartender, I learned about every type of alcohol and drink ever... and had (a lot) of fun experimenting. Thus, it came to pass that I first came across the Melon Ball.
I don't know what made me dust off the recipe, but I'm glad I did. It's an oldie, but a goodie. Sure, it's delicious. That's a given. But the most fun thing about it is the (neon green?) color it turns when you mix the orange juice and melon liquer! Plus, it's about the easiest thing ever to make:
DRINK FOR ONE!
Fill an 8oz glass with ice. Then pour:
2 oz Midori (melon liquer)
1 oz vodka
Top with orange juice
Drinks for two, double the recipe!
Drinks for three, triple the recipe!
(etc...)

ReplyDeleteThis looks like the perfect drink for spring & summer. I've always thought bartending school would be fun. I'd love to hear more about your experiences there! I don't think I know of any bloggers who are also bartenders!
