When this beautiful farm cabin popped up on the scouting list, I snapped it up right away. Maine is like an idyllic dreamscape in the summer... It's the perfect temperature at all times. The sky is wide, everything is green, and the air is fresh. I knew it was a little far from NYC, but had the benefit of a crash pad at my parents house in RI before and after. And so the roadtrip began!
We reached the property and found a cute hand-written note in the mailbox, directing us back to our cabin. It was easy to find, and once we got there we started clicking away!
Our hosts were friendly, and gave us a small peek into what it takes to run a small farm. (Spoiler alert: it's a lot of work.) It was very educational, and was awesome to see how happy and well treated the animals are here. It made my feelings more clear that humans have a responsibility to learn where our food comes from. And when I do eat meat, to try as much as possible to get it from smaller farms where you know the animals are raised with care.
We were lucky enough to get a farm-fresh organic breakfast in the morning! A wonderful way to end our stay
