Dream Job // Professional Roadtripper
So, some cool news!
A few months ago, I was researching potential destinations for summer camping trips. I came across Hipcamp.com and immediately got sucked in for hours... drooling over Instagram-worthy tipis on beaches, rustic cabins, and stories of people having magical experiences in the outdoors. Then I dug a little deeper and found out that they were hiring photographers (aka Field Scouts.) Field Scouts spend the night at properties, take pictures, and report back about their adventure. I applied on a whim, not really expecting anything.
About a week later, I got an email saying that I'd been accepted! I couldn't believe it. I almost wrote the whole thing off, telling myself I couldn't do it for one reason or another. I called my mom. And as a mom does, she encouraged me and basically insisted that I start booking assignments like yesterday. So when I took my first trip last week, she came along! It was a small organic farm in Maine- Hamilton Farms.
I have to say, this is a pretty cool thing for me to be into right now. It's an awesome side-hustle, and an opportunity that I hope will grow into more photography-related jobs. In the meantime, you can find me road-tripping and taking everyone I know and love along for the ride 😃
PS, if you're a photographer based in the US and want to apply, go here!!

Oh my gosh, that is the coolest! I am definitely gonna look into that...do they pay for the trip as well?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's pretty rad!! Basically you get $75-$100 per property scouted, depending on the day of the week, plus a free night wherever you're staying. It's not a lot, but it gives you opportunity for traveling the US for free/ cheap! I'm not sure where you're based, but I do know only place they're NOT hiring Field Scouts right now is the San Francisco area... if you live anywhere else, definitely check it out!!
