Most of my New Jersey friends have a fondness and nostalgia for going 'down the shore' every summer, including going to Seaside Heights. Starting from when they’re kids, all the way through college, and finally bringing their own children here when they’re older.
Through every stage of life, there's literally something for everyone. They come back because it's fun, family-friendly, and there's always a party around the corner!
In fact, here’s a preview of all the activities you'll find in Seaside Heights- family beaches, boardwalks for thrill-seekers, and legendary bars and clubs.
But of course, MTV's Jersey Shore isn't the entire reason why you should visit Seaside Heights. Not by a long shot!
The way getting to the beach works in Seaside Heights is very simple. Depending on where you’re staying, the beach will be very walkable from your hotel or Airbnb. And when you get there, you’ll pay a fee to get in. There’s a couple of ways you can do that.
Beach badges- if you come to Seaside Heights frequently, then you might be interested in getting a beach badge. You pay a set amount and will be able to access the beach for a set amount of time. There are cashiers at the openings of the beach, and the fees for beach badges are as follows-
In case you’ve never been to a traditional boardwalk before, you’re in for a real treat! A boardwalk usually entails a long wooden path along a stretch of beach. Sometimes the wooden structures will jut out into the water and becomes a pier.
But the most important thing of course, is what’s ON those boardwalks- and that’s a variety of exciting and fun activities!
Things like carnival games, stomach-churning rides, and a variety of non-healthy food options like corn dogs and fried dough.
Seaside Heights has all these attractions and more! So let’s talk some specifics about visiting their boardwalk, so that you can plan your trip.
The Seaside Heights water park is called Breakwater Beach, and is located not too far from the boardwalk.
There are also tons of hotels and motels that aren't directly on the boardwalk and beach, but are still plenty walkable to it. Here are some of the most searched-for ones!

Visiting the Jersey Shore House
Anyone can visit the outside of the house at 1209 Ocean Terrace. It's super easy to find, and if you go around to the front on the boardwalk side, you will also see the store they worked at- the Shore Store.
And if you're a really dedicated super fan, you can also rent the house for $3500 per night!!
But of course, MTV's Jersey Shore isn't the entire reason why you should visit Seaside Heights. Not by a long shot!
So let's take a look at some of the many other things to do in Seaside Heights.
Seaside Heights Beach
First of all, let’s talk about the beach! The Seaside Heights beach spans about 15 blocks, and is accessible to the boardwalk the entire way.The way getting to the beach works in Seaside Heights is very simple. Depending on where you’re staying, the beach will be very walkable from your hotel or Airbnb. And when you get there, you’ll pay a fee to get in. There’s a couple of ways you can do that.
Beach badges- if you come to Seaside Heights frequently, then you might be interested in getting a beach badge. You pay a set amount and will be able to access the beach for a set amount of time. There are cashiers at the openings of the beach, and the fees for beach badges are as follows-
- Weekly badge - $35 (Sunday through Saturday) This is great if you’re coming here to vacation for the week!
- Season badge - $45 if purchased on or before May 15th
- Season badge - $60 if purchased after May 15th
- Senior Citizen season badge - $15 for persons 65 years of age and older. Two badges are $25 if purchased at the same time and both persons are present when purchased.
- Children 11 years of age and under - free every day
- Active and retired military personnel and their dependents - free every day with the appropriate cards.
Beach badges are issued per-person, and you’ll have to wear them on your clothing or swimsuit every time you enter the beach, where there will be attendants checking.
But once you get yours, don’t lose it! Otherwise, you’ll have to pay full price all over again!

Seaside Heights Beach Hours
When it comes time to plan your beach day in Seaside Heights, you’ll need to know when to go! So the rules are as follows-- A beach badge is required to enter the beach from 9am until 4pm on Monday through Thursday.
- On Friday through Sunday, you’ll need a wristband from 9am to 9pm, and the sales close at 6pm.
- Lifeguards are present on the beach from 10 AM until 5 PM every day.
- Visitors must leave the beach by 10pm
- If you’re coming from outside the area just for the day, you will have to pay to park as well as pay to access the beach.
- Seaside Heights is available at numbered parking spaces in most areas of the borough. Use nearby kiosks, or the mPay2Park+ app to pay for parking.
- Fees range from $1/hour to $2/hour depending on the location

Seaside Heights Boardwalk Hours
The boardwalk attractions are run by a group called Casino Pier. According to their website, different attractions, restaurants open at different times.But in general, during the summer, most attractions and stands open around 10am- 2, and close around 11pm-12.
The credits will go onto payment card called a ‘Surf Card’ that will be scanned by the park attendants when you want to go on a ride.
So if you want to go on the Go-karts for example, it’s $10. And you’ll need to purchase at least $10 in credits.
Seaside Heights Boardwalk Rides
There are sooo many fun ride options for rides on the boardwalk! Here are some of the most popular ones-- Tilt-a-whirl- 3 credits - A twisty, turn-y all-ages ride.
- Shore Shot - 8 credits - An exciting ride that shoots you 125 into the air.
- Ferris wheel - 6 credits - A boardwalk classic. 131 ft tall, with gondolas that fit 6 passengers each.
- Sky Ride - $7 round trip (The Surf Cards don’t seem to be valid for this ride). This takes you on a ride above Seaside Heights Boardwalk!
- Sky Scraper - $20 (again, Surf Card not eligible here.) A thrill ride that spins you 170 feet into the sky at speeds up to 70 mph.
- Music Xpress - 6 credits - a circular track that spins around while playing fun music.
Seaside Heights Tickets
Tickets for rides are based on ‘credits’ that you purchase from Casino Pier kiosks. 1 credit = $1.The credits will go onto payment card called a ‘Surf Card’ that will be scanned by the park attendants when you want to go on a ride.
So if you want to go on the Go-karts for example, it’s $10. And you’ll need to purchase at least $10 in credits.
Seaside Heights Arcades
There are several arcades on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights! Arcades can be fun and nostalgic, and a great way to pass the time while you're at the beach. You can expect to find classic games like slot machines, skee ball and pin ball. On the boardwalk, you'll find the following arcades-

Seaside Heights Waterpark
Guess what? Seaside Heights also has a waterpark! I don’t know about you, but I used to love going on waterslides as a kid. It’s such a fun, nostalgic activity for adults and little ones alike.The Seaside Heights water park is called Breakwater Beach, and is located not too far from the boardwalk.
