5 Simple Tips to Refresh Your Living Room Decor for Spring

Hey friends!

How has it been going for you in these past couple of weeks? I hope that it's been full of self care, cooking good meals, baths, books, and exercise ğŸ˜Š

One thing that I've been focusing on more is my space. Specifically my living room. As I spend more time indoors, I find myself looking for things that can be improved. And I'm a believer in only having items around that make you feel happiness and joy every single day. So that's why I decided to revamp my living room for spring!

I put together some simple tips to refresh your living room.. These tips definitely work if you're on a budget or live in a small space (both of these apply to me.) Because believe it or not, you don't have to go all out with hundreds of decorations to freshen things up. Small changes make a big impact!

So here we go, let's look at some tips for transforming your living room for spring!

1. Flowers- Fresh or Faux

Fresh flowers will always make any space feel happier and more lively. It seems obvious, but it's the #1 thing people forget to do! To me, even the act of buying fresh flowers feels like I'm adding a little moment of joy to my day. Then that joy lasts for a week or more every time I see those flowers.

Trust me- next time you're at the supermarket, take $10 and splurge on a bouquet. I love any type of flowers, but tulips, roses, and daffodils especially scream spring.

I also understand that right now, it might be hard to get your hands on fresh flowers (I get them occasionally on our recent grocery store runs.) That's why you might want to consider ordering from places like Afloral, or even Amazon.mThis might be an even better investment, since you can keep them all season long.

2. Put up a Spring Wreath

Wreaths aren't just for Christmas anymore!

Confession- I used to think wreaths were kind of lame, fake-looking hot messes. But after realizing how realistic they could be, and how nice they could make a room look, I'm totally on the wreath train! It has a "ties the room together" type of effect, and makes a it seem happier and cozier.

A seasonal wreath is one of the easiest ways to say "I'm ready for spring!" I got this pretty sunflower wreath because it seemed so cheerful and had the perfect vibe I was going for.

I want to say though- do your research! Look at reviews, and especially pictures. There are some terrible plastic-y craft store wreaths out there. But there are also some really vibrant and realistic-looking ones!

3. Use Spring Colors

Pastels for spring... groundbreaking 😂 But seriously, there's a reason these colors have been the standard for years. You could certainly go with blush, buttercup, and lilac and that will always be super pretty. But keep in mind that pops of bright color like coral, bright blue, and sage can be just as effective at telegraphing those spring vibes.

I chose a sunny yellow to perk up our living room. After the winter/ Christmas season, everything in our apartment seemed so dark. I was dying to infuse some cheery colors, so I went with the brightest yellows I could find. Including the sunflower wreath and these cute faux billy ball plants!

5. Use Faux Greenery

Channel some jungle vibes with lots of green leafy garlands!

Part of the reason why people love green things is psychology. So many live in cities surrounded by concrete and pollution. They work all day inside offices with flourescent lighting. Then come home to eat takeout or processed food.

Yet humans crave life and nature! Any kind of greens or plants really make your apartment or house feel alive- yes, even if they are faux. You can use all types of greenery to acheive the effect you want, such as eucalyptus or even flowers. But I decided on these ivy strands.

The ones that I ordered came with SO many strands, and I put them everywhere... book cases, shelves, curtain rods, over my coffee maker... wherever I could!

5. Embrace Succulents

You can never go wrong with a succulent in my opinion! They've been trendy for years, and I don't see that stopping any time soon. The reasons why are obvious! They're easy to take care of, give fashionable desert vibes, and exude that lively "green" feeling that we just discussed. They're such a perfect way to make any space feel more modern!

You can buy actual succulent plants, but I like to use faux ones. Number one, because my living room doesn't get a lot of natural light. And number two, they take literally no effort to maintain. I'm loving this small faux cactus!
