Are you looking to have a nice brunch at Serra by Birreria Eataly in NYC? You’re in the right spot!

Whether you’re a foodie, want to try out a unique place to dine in NYC, or are simply looking to grab a drink in Flatiron, Serra by Birreria is the perfect place!

This past fall and winter, I was invited to stop by Serra by Birreria at Eataly to experience their brunch menu and decor. Of course I said yes, as I’d been ogling this place on Instagram for such a long time!

Serra by Birreria has some well-known buzz on social media for their Instagrammable rooftop space. In fact, this place is an influencer hotspot. They even have a corner specifically designed so that people can take photos (and it's always immaculately decorated.)

However, this gorgeous NYC restaurant offers more than just a pretty interior. The menu is inspired by the Italian countryside. And if you're thinking that sounds delicious- it is!

Whether you’re coming here for fall, winter, spring, or summer- Serra by Birreria in New York is a great place to get an amazing meal and take home some amazing photos (and spoiler, everyone back at home will be jealous.)

Serra by Birreria Location

Serra by Birriera is located at 200 5th Avenue. It's inside Eataly, which is in the Flatiron neighborhood in NYC.
  • There's a lot of great things about this location- starting with the fact that it's easy to get to! The Flatiron neighborhood is accessible by several trains including the N, Q, R, W, F, M, and 6. It's also not that far from Midtown, as well as other popular attractions.
  • Did you know that Serra by Birriera is next-door neighbors with a famous landmark? The Flatiron Building is literally right down the street. The iconic. triangular 22-story building can be seen as you're going into Eataly, and the best views are...
  • Right across the street at Madison Square Park. Not only is this a great spot to view the Flatiron Building, it's perfect for a post-brunch stroll or sit.
  • Last but not least, the restaurant is above a market called Eataly- which itself is a destination. In fact, the downstairs space of Eataly has 50,000 square feet dedicated to authentic Italian cuisine- selling cheese, meats, and pastas.

To Get to the Restaurant

Once you're inside Eataly, head all the way to the back of the store where you'll find a hostess stand. There, you'll be checked in and instructed to head upstairs on the elevator.

Serra by Birreria Menu

The menu at this Eataly rooftop is truly delicious! It changes seasonally and includes many locally sourced items- including from Upstate NY and the Union Square Greenmarket.

As I said before- the food is inspired by the Italian countryside. So don't definitely don't expect your run-of-the-mill spaghetti and meatballs.

The dishes are rustic and some recipes date from the 13th century. Sample menu items I've enjoyed in the past include butternut squash ravioli, Raven and Boar Farm sausage, and fondue served with potatoes, carrots, and house made bread (this was my favorite... so fun in the winter time!)

There are also a curated menu of craft cocktails, with flavors that always a compliment the season. Think apple and pumpkin in the fall, cinnamon in the winter, and watermelon in the summer. I've tried several of the drinks and they're all delicious, as well as beautifully garnished.

Serra by Birreria Reservations

One of the most important parts about scoring a brunch spot at this Flatiron gem? Scoring some reservations! In fact, this restaurant is very in demand, so you'll want them.

Despite the massive size of the space, it's been fully booked every time I've come here. The hostess stand is swamped, and I overhear people wandering over from Eataly's market... "Oh, you need reservations? You don't have any tables open for two hours? Even at the bar??"

To avoid this, you can do one of two things-
  • Show up right when they open- 11:30am Monday-Sunday
  • Book a reservation ahead of time on Open Table

Serra by Birreria Decor

Baby, this is what you came for!

The decor at Serra by Birreria represents all the seasons. So it changes every winter, spring, summer and fall.

The most breathtaking part of the transition is that the entire roof of the loft-like space is decorated in a canopy of foliage from the season- and it changes slightly every year!

So in the spring and summer you can expect pastels and bright flowers. In the fall, it's decked out in brilliant gold and orange foliage. And during the Christmas/ winter season, it's an evergreen and white dreamland.

Let's not forget the photo spots! They change with the seasons too. And they're always spots that make a perfect little vignette for pics with your friends, family, or solo.
