New Year's!!!

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and now New Year's...

Why... this must be the week of sharing every holiday photo humanly possible!! :P

I'm happy New Years was such a total blast this year. Normally, I don't love hyped-up holidays where you feel obligated to have fun... it always just makes me feel like when my holiday turns out to be completely boring, I'm not doing what I'm supposed to like the rest of the world.

Luckily, we got invited to the same party we went to last year! Like last year, We went over to our friend Kayleigh's apartment. Like last year, she made ham. But unlike last year, she put up a photobooth wall!

She even dubbed it "Selfie Central." And many selfies (and regular photos) were taken that night. Oh yes.

All in all, it was a successful New Year's night.

Boulevard Cafe

Recently had a lovely hang with my friend Alyson at a cafe nearby.

I've never been to this cafe before, which is highly unusual. I have a hound's nose for coffee shops, and always sniff out any that happen to be a 15 minute radius of my apartment. But weirdly, I just never made it around to this one, even though it's been around for quite awhile (maybe even since I moved here!)

Anyway, hanging out with Alyson is always a blast. As soon as I walked in the door, she had my camera in her hands and we were taking selfies galore! Lol. Snickers from nearby patrons did not deter us from having our fun.

I had a coffee, and we continued with our antics, but it soon came around to "serious chat" time, which is just as important as the silly stuff. We ended up staying for quite awhile! I'll definitely be coming back here in the future.

Kitty and Buck Giveaway!

Japan kawaii

A few weeks ago, I received a really adorable package from Shell of Kitty and Buck. She's a dear bloggy friend, and I was so surprised and excited to be the winner of a recent giveaway of hers. The assortment was full of cute (kawaii!) stuff she brought back from her recent trip to Japan.

I love everything... I'm really pumped to try and put together a lolita-esque outfit to pair with those frilly socks (where would I wear this outfit??!) But I was most excited about the jelly pens and the washi tape.

Washi tape is one of those things that I've always found really cool, but never got around to buying. Those types of presents are the best... stuff you always wanted to try, but never think to buy for yourself. I started fooling around a bit with the tape, and you can see it here in action on my pinboard.

I like the tape paired with the picture of me and my friend Anne when we were ten years old. It's a picture I treasure, and I decided to add the positivity message as well... I need more of those around :)

Have an awesome day! And show yourself kindness :) xoxo

photos by Tamar Haviv

I had a lovely coffee date with my pal Tamar the other day. I asked her to take some photos of me, but my camera battery died. So some of these were shot with her iPhone, and some with my camera (guess which ones are which!)

I've mentioned her a bunch on this blog, and she's a fellow singer-songwriter friend. Well, one of her songs just made it into a Crayola commercial!! Also awesome- I sang the backing vocals on this song, and did the vocal arranging. The vocals aren't showcased in the commercial, but it's still pretty cool!

Anyone else wanna hire me to sing backing vocals/ arranging on their songs? I'm very reasonable :P

Also, I love my shirt- which you can't really see in these pictures due to my sunglasses obscuring it. But trust me, it's rad. I went a little spendy this time, and bought it at an all-handmade shop in Bushwick. It's nice to be able to wear something that you know is completely sweatshop-free.

Other news- I finally picked back up with the Song of Ice and Fire series, and started reading Dance with Dragons last week. I've been really apprehensive about it. As good as the story is, the terrible things that happen to a lot of the characters just crush me.

Still... I have to know what happens to Tyrion!! Haha.

New Year's Eve

When you see tomorrow's post, it's going to seems like I'm jumping around a bit... because I am. I wanted to show a few snaps from New Year's, even though I've still got more pictures from RI to show you :) It's fresher on my mind, and I'm feeling a little frisky.

Anyway, our friend Kayleigh invited us over to her adorable apartment, and we spent the night looking glam and drinking lychee mimosas and whiskey. She even cooked for everyone. No sooner had I walked in her place, than was handed a heaping plate of baked ham and creamed spinach! A lovely hostess, indeed.
