Lazy Sundays Show + A Moment of Honesty
A few weeks ago, I was invited by my friend Isaac to play a show at a community garden here in Bushwick. It was one of those idyllic places that reminded me of my college days... with lots of random stuff strewn about, a potluck, and people enthusiastic to be a part of art.
Coney Island
Oh nothing, just a little trip to Coney Island...
We did lots of touristy stuff, like eating at Nathan's, and riding the Wonder Wheel!. Plus there was some non-touristy stuff, like having a large man in a bikini twerk and wink at us as we were eating nachos. Just a normal day, really...
But behold its majesty- a shot of the beach from the top of the Wonder Wheel!
We look like ants...

Fashion Week Party ~ Lulu's
I was happy and excited to go back to Lulu's Style Studio again this year. It was at the same venue as last year, and I had a pretty chill time. I chatted with some ladies, and saw/ talked to Maria from Little Tree again briefly. But mostly, I sort of stuck by myself, picked up my swag bag materials, and did my own thing.
I don't know what it is, but I get super nervous sometimes before/ at events like these. I left the house feeling really confident, but then on the train I started to get anxious. It's really weird when my social anxiety decides to hit. Sometimes, I love being a social butterfly, and others I just want to be alone. Does this happen to anyone else?
Anyway...
Highlights:
~ They had massages and manicures this year! I indulged in both.
~ Godiva chocolate bars.
~ Lush Cosmetics was there!! This was huge. They were giving away cupcake face masks, and I scored one!
~ There was a company there called Shae Moisture, and the body butter that I took home from them is one of my favorite finds of the night. I'm hooked! The scent is hibiscus & coconut, and it is so addicting. Glad to know the brand is pretty accessible, as they evidently sell products at Target. I'm excited to try other stuff from their range!!
~ As always, each attendee gets to pick out an item of clothing, and I've been super wanting a kimono. Unfortunately, we only had ten minutes to look through everything, and there were no dressing rooms or even any mirrors this year! So I snagged this kimono and hoped for the best. I'm getting a Blanche from the Golden Girls meets Hawaii 5-0 kind of vibe... Luckily, Blanche is frigging fierce. I can't wait to rock this thing the minute it turns warmer than 30 degrees outside.

Union Square Market
I know, it's probably looking like I have a fetish for farmer's markets (I totally do.) But this is the mother of all of them in my book... it's the Union Square Farmer's Market!!
Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday farmers come to sell the most delicious produce, meat, cheese, bread... anything you can think of! When I remember to, I love to come here and stock up on fresh vegetables and eggs. Plus in the winter time, more artisans come to sell other things like clothing, jewelry, specialty soaps, and coffee... you can bet on me posting about it when the holidays roll around!
Anyway, hope you all are having a super special day :) xox
New/ old friends
One of the first things I did when I came back to the city was hit up my friend James for a brunch and a chat. He was literally the first friend I made in college... and can you believe we're still in touch?!
James is one of those friends that I would run into sporadically, while in my own swirl of life... bumping into him here and there. Must've been the Universe telling me that we needed to be better friends :) So we had this nice brunch at this delicious spot (he always knows the best places), and a walk through a nearby park. Wonderful way to spend a day!
Hope your day is fantastic so far!! xxo
Vanessa's Dumplings
Good morning :) How was everyone's weekend? I wanted to elaborate on one of my favorite places in Williamsburg, since I was on a roll talking about it in my last post. It's a subject near and dear to my heart: Dumplings!
There's a million dumpling places in New York, but I like Vanessa's in Willy's Burg. This place is great for several reasons:
#1 it's close! Love to grab a quick bite from this place when I'm in the area (which is often.)
#2 it's unassuming. I've probably passed by this place a thousand times and never noticed it.
#3 it is Cheap, cheap, cheap! And good! Four dumplings from this place cost $1.25.
My favorite thing about this place though, is the bubble tea. I'm picky about my bubble tea. I like it here because the tapioca pearls are relatively small, which means they don't get caught in my mouth like a big, gloppy mess. Like everything else on the menu, this yummy drink is budget friendly- only $3!! The coconut milk tea is TO DIE for.
Any favorite places of your own? xxo
Life Moments ~ Williamsburg
Some of the last few images I captured before going off to camp. I took a leisurely stroll around Williamsburg and documented some neat stuff. I think my favorite picture in this batch is that huge pile of old phones! I was browsing through a junk shop at the time, and I couldn't believe how cool it looked.
By the way, I borrowed Matt's (much fancier) camera to take these photos. It was such a different experience! I'm not used to taking photos with full-fram capabilities though. I like the crispness that the images produce, but I miss the extreme bokeh effect I get with my T2i. You're taking in so much more of the scene. Still. I can't really complain too much. I guess I could just crop more. Or take a few steps forward when I want to take a picture :)
Have a beautiful day! x
